Carbon Attack Filter

Overall Description/Scope of the Project

The Carbon Attack Filter is a low cost biodegradable carbon capture filter designed specifically for passenger vehicles such as cars, vans and motorcycles. It traps all major greenhouse gases and potent pollutants from exhaus such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxides and lead before they get into the air. After capture, the waste from this cartridge has value and can be used to rehabilitate acidic/dying soil, improving soil for agriculture or reforestation. The Carbon Attack Filter is the first and only Carbon Circular Filter . In Our prototype, we have accounted for efficiency, user friendliness, and using smart engineering to maximize design aesthetics by making it compact, without compromising functionality. This innovation was tailor made to serve as a regilation for the clean air act helping current car owners to be more carbon compliant . It is a easily retrofitted apparatus that can be implemented quickly to stop global emissions.

Justification of Project

The transport sector is responsible for 8 billion tons of carbon each year which accounts for 29% of total carbon emissions making it the largest contributor. Road travel accounts for three-quarters of transport emissions. Most of this comes from passenger vehicles – cars and buses – which contribute 45.1%. The average car emits about 4.6 tons of carbon annually. With the carbon attack filter fitted, we can bring this number down to 1.4 tons a year which translates to 3 billion tons of carbon a year removed globally and 2 million tons of CO2 removed locally. The market is undeniable and growing at an alarming rate. Validated by cop26 nations will take more efforts in decarbonizing transportation Assisting SDGs 3, 8, 11, 13 and 15.

D30 Fuel

Overall Description/Scope of the Project

The D30 fuel is a semi-synthetic hydrocarbon fuel designed to be more sustainable than E10. The D30 has a higher energy density, uses more complex synthetic biofuels and less petrol resulting in a more environmentally friendly and cost effective transportation fuel that burns cleaner but cheaper than its predecessor.This solution is formulated to be environmentally friendly and more cost effective than the currently used solution in effort to lower fossil fuel dependency and energy budget. With expertise from petroleum engineers, environmentalists, economists along with partnerships with organizations in the energy sector and funding, we can change the conversation about energy and the environment

Justification of Project

With gradual depletion of fossil fuels, widespread concerns have been raised regarding production of fuels or chemicals from renewable biomass . Ethanol has been produced on industrial scales through fermentation and is one of the largest volume bio-fuels. It is used directly as a fuel or blended in gasoline known as E10 however, it has a relatively low energy density as such may require more , high hygroscopicity and corrosion to metal parts restrict its application in the transportation sector. Of 195 countries only 128 are energy secure leaving them vulnerable to oil prices which had plagued our economies. This also reduces resources available to aid other sectors of society. Our solution to this energy security crisis is the D30 fuel. The D30 synthetic fuel is a transportation fuel that is more cost-effective and eco-friendly than E10. Using the 12 principles of green chemistry, our fuel is a more sustainable solution superior to E10. The global renewable energy market is projected to reach $1,977.6 billion by 2030. As a cleaner alternative Our solution is aimed at achieving SDGs 7 and 13. The D30 fuel allows for lowering of fossil fuel dependency and energy budgets.
